HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1486 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 09/28/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 09/29/95 Daily Status Report as of 272/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6189 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal Monitor - Vis Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal visual flat calibration images. Both photometric and narrow-band filters were used. The observations were executed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6184 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Photometric Calibration Monitor UV/Opt STD) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet and optical calibration images of standard star GRW+70D582. The purpose is to monitor the photometric stability and quantum efficiency of the WF/PC-2 from the far ultraviolet to the near-IR. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6187 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Earth Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth-streak, flat calibration images. These streak-flats will be used to produce flat fields, to map the OTA illumination pattern and, in combination with other data, to produce new superflats. T he observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed GHRS/2/1 6084 (The Rotation, Masses and Chemical Abundances of the White Dwarf in WZ-Sge) The High Resolution Spectrograph (both Sides One and Two) were used in the Rapid Mode to make observations of the white dwarf star in the variable star system WZ-Sagittae in order to study its mass, rotation, and chemical abundances. This dwarf novae system consists of a white dwarf, an accretion disk, which surrounds the white dwarf, a secondary star and a mass stream. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5957 (Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations for radio galaxy 3C356.0 to study the morphology of the radio galaxy. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed GHRS/1 6090 (UV Spectroscopy of Two Ultra-Hot White Dwarf Candidates) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make far-ultraviolet spectrographic observations of the star HE0504-240 which is a ultra-hot white dwarf candidate. The spectra will be used to confirm the star's temperature. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 12 Successful : 11 One acquisition, at 272/075053Z, failed.
