HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1497 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 10/16/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 10/17/95 Daily Status Report as of 290/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6184 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Photometric Calibration = Monitor UV/OPT STD) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet and optical observations = of standard star GRW+70D582 in order to monitor the photometric = calibrations of the camera and to check for decontamination. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 6183 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Decon) The WF/PC-2 was used to make some internal flat, K-Spot, and dark = calibration images. The purpose is to define decontamination procedures = to be run during Cycle 5. The calibration observations were completed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6266 (High Resolution Surface Photometry of = NGC-7479) The WF/PC-2 was used to make multicolor high resolution = observations of the surface of the star bursting galaxy NGC-7479 to = investigate the interaction among gas clouds, dust, star formation, and = the stellar populations. The observations were executed as planned, and = no anomalies were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5943 (Decoupled Cores in Low-Mass Early Type = Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the nuclear region of = the low-luminosity, early-type galaxy NGC-2434 to study its detached = decoupled core. The observations were complete as planned, and no = anomalies were reported. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 6189 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal = Monitor - Vis Flats) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal visual flat calibration = images. Both photometric and narrow-band filters were used. The = observations were executed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.6 Completed GHRS/1 6069 (Unraveling the Complex Wind Outflow From = Zeta Auriga) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = spectrographic observations of the star Zeta Auriga (aka, HD32068) in = order to study its complex wind outflow. This system is believed to be an = eclipsing binary system with a 972 day period. A wavelength calibration = observations was also taken. The observations were completed as planned, = and no anomalies were reported. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5957 (Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations for radio galaxy 3C111.0 = to study the morphology of the radio galaxy. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 5849 (Host Galaxies of Luminous Nearby Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep exposure observations of host = galaxy PG0953+414 which is known to have a luminous nearby quasar. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5978 (Host Galaxy of Distant Radio Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the host galaxy of = distant radio-loud quasar B3-1019+39. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 8 Successful : 8 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no reported problems, as all onboard subsystems performed nominally. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH -END-
