HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1531 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 12/06/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 12/07/95 Daily Status Report as of 341/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5957 (Snapshot of 3CR Radio Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations for radio galaxy 3C249.0 = to study the morphology of this radio galaxy. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5914 (The Formation History of Globular Clusters = in M-33) The WF/PC-2 was used to make V and I observations of globular = cluster NGC-598-R12 which is located in the M-33 galaxy in order to study = its formation history. Color-magnitude diagrams made from these images = will be examined for evidence of a parameter other than metallicity that = influences the evolutionary development of stars. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6187 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Earth Flat) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth streak flat calibration images. = These streak flats will be used to produce flat fields, to map the OTA = illumination pattern and, in combination with other data, to produce new = superflats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems = were reported. 1.4 Completed GHRS/1 5895 (The Cool Atomic and Molecular Medium in B3) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = observations of star HD23180 in order to study the foreground cool atomic = and molecular medium of a molecular cloud known as B3. These observations = should yield information about the gas pressure, density, kinematics, and = chemical processes in the halo around the cloud. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5834 (Distant Comet Nucleus Sizes) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the Comet = Shoemaker-Levy 87 H1 (note: not Shoemaker-Levy 9) to try to determine the = size of its nucleus. This comet is farther than 19 AU from the sun, and = should show the bare nucleus. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 9 Successful : 9 2.3 Operations Notes: HST operations continue to be performed from the SEER. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
