HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1537 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 12/14/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 12/15/95 Daily Status Report as of 349/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 6183 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Decon) The WF/PC-2 was used to make some internal flat, K-spot, and dark = calibration images. The purpose is to define decontamination procedures = to be run during Cycle 5. The calibration observations were completed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5834 (Distant Comet Nucleus Sizes) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the Comet = Shoemaker-Levy 87 H1 (Note: Not Shoemaker-Levy 9) to try to determine the = size of its nucleus. This comet is farther than 19 AU from the sun, and = should show the bare nucleus. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 6183 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Decon) The WF/PC-2 was used to make some internal flat, K-Spot, and dark = calibration images. The purpose is to define decontamination procedures = to be run during Cycle 5. The calibration observations were completed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.4 Completed FOS/BL 5781 (Emission Line Variability in the Lensed = Quasar Q0957+561: Carryover) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue side) was used to make = observations of the lensed quasar Q0957+561 (A and B) to study its = emission line variability. From IUE data it was found that the flux = ratio, A/B varies significantly on a time scale of two weeks. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 5 Successful : 5 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no ODMs due to a NASCOM line outage during events at = 348/1537Z and 348/1618Z. There was a nine minute unrecoverable = engineering data loss at 348/1638Z while in the coherent mode due to = unknown NASCOM problems. TTRs were written dor each both occurrences. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
