HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1565 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 02/06/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 02/07/96 Daily Status Report as of 038/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with = flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed GHRS/1 6170 (GHRS Echelle and G140M Long-Term = Monitor-Cycle) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = calibration observations of standard star Mu-Col as part of a long term = monitoring of the Echelle spectrograph and grating G140M. The sensitivity = of the instrument will be measured at several grating positions. The = observations were executed as scheduled and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed FGS 6270 (The Parallax of RW Tri) The FGSs were used in the POS Mode to make astrometric observations = of old nova RW-Tri and several other reference stars to measure its = parallax. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies = were noted. 1.4 Completed FOS/RD 6091 (Ionization and Abundances of BALQSOs) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make = observations of BALQSO 0842+3431 in order to study it ionization and = abundances. This QSO is known to show broad absorption lines in its = spectra. The goal is to observe lines from several different ionization = states of Oxygen. The observations were completed as planned, and no = anomalies were reported. ..1.5 Completed Two Sets of S/C 6843 (Test of Technique to Avoid FGS1 = Stalls) Special test were conducted using FGS #1 to test a technique for = avoiding FGS stalls. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no = anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed FOS/RD 6020 (SINS: Supernova Intensive Study - Cycle 5) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make = spectrographic observations of the supernova rem nant LMC-SN1987 which is = located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. This is to study the development of = the nova, and its interstellar matter. The observations were completed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 7 Successful : 7 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 17 Successful : 17 2.3 Operations Notes: ESTR #2 remains powered off. Realtime operations transferred to the SAMS backup facility at = 038/0815Z in preparation for the simulation activities to be conducted in = the MOR/SMOR areas. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: GSFC Internal Simulation #1, covering SM2 activities in the = vicinity of the rendezvous and grapple events will be conducted today from = approximately 8:00 a.m. to approximately 10:00 p.m. /DMH
