HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1571 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 02/14/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 02/15/96 Daily Status Report as of 046/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FGS 5657 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars: Cycle 4 High) The FGSs (TRANS-Mode) were used to make astrometric observations of = star VA529 located in the Hyades cluster in an attempt to find a close = binary. After achieving fine lock, the acquisition lost lock at = 045/003352Z. HSTAR 5502 was written to document these events. The = observations was completed as scheduled, and no further anomalies were = noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with = flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. = The loss of lock mentioned for the previous proposal resulted in the loss = of two WF/PC-2 observations while the take data flag was down. HSTAR 5502 = described these events. Otherwise, the observations were completed as = planned, and no other problems were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5907 (Colour Magnitude Diagrams of two = Super-Metal-Rich Globular Clusters) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the super-metal-rich = globular cluster NGC-224-G17. The high resolution of the PC will allow = individual stars to be distinguished, from which the investigator can = build a colour magnitude diagram of this unusual cluster. The = observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6235 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies = at Redshift Z~1.0) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of faint radio galaxy = 3C239 which is known to have a redshift of about one. This is to attempt = to determine the cause of the alignment of the blue-excess along the radio = axis. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were = noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5989 (Imaging of CL1358+62 and Its Environs: the = Morphology-Density Relation)) The WF/PC-2 was used to make imaging observations of galactic = cluster CL1358+62 (aka, Gal-Clus-1) in order to study the morphology of = the galaxy as a function of its position in the cluster. The observations = were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed GHRS/1/WF/PC-2 5865 (NLTE Analysis of the Hot Post-AGB = Star ZNG1 in the Galactic Globular Cluster M-5) Both the WF/PC-2 and the High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) were = used to make observations of the hot blue post AGB star NGC-5904-ZNG1 = which is located in the globular cluster M-5. There are indications that = there is a planetary nebula around this star. The observations were = completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 15 Successful : 15 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no significant operational problems.
