HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1581 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 02/29/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/01/96 Daily Status Report as of 061/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FGS 6238 (Companion to GL6230) The FGSs were used to make POS and TRANS mode astrometric = observations of star GL623 (aka, Gleise 623) looking for possible = companions. Five other reference stars were also used. From these data = the precise parallax, barycentic orbits, and accurate masses of the star = and its companion will be determined. The observations were completed as = schedule, and no anomalies were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was used to make random long exposures of high galactic = fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a = random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, = and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed GHRS/2/1 5867 (UV Spectroscopy of the Low Mass X-Ray = Binary SCO-X1) Both the High Resolution Spectrographs (Side One and Side Two) were = used to make ultraviolet observations of the low mass x-ray binary system = Sco-X1. The objective is to look for short timescale variability, which = will provide a measure of the size of the ultraviolet emitting region. = The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 3 As documented in HSTAR 5522, the FGS #3 acquisition at 061/0027Z = and the four following re-acquisitions (at 061/0151Z, 061/0331Z, 061/0505, = and 061/0642Z) all failed. For each failure the step scan limit was = exceeded. Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 5 Successful : 5 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no reported operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
