HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1589 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 03/12/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/13/96 Daily Status Report as of 073/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5829 (The Activity of Periodic Comet = Schwassmann-Wachmann 1) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of periodic comet SW1 = (aka, Schwassmann-Wachmann 1) to try to detect CO fluorescence. The = observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5849 (Host Galaxies of Luminous Nearby Quasars) The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep exposure observations of host = galaxy PG1116+215 which is known to have a luminous nearby quasar. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed FOS/RD 6001 (NGC-5253 Starburst as a Laboratory for = Enrichment Processes) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make = ultraviolet spectrographic observations of the starbursting galaxy = NGC-5253. Observations were also made of a nearby evolving massive star. = The objective is to study the interaction between evolving massive stars = and the interstellar medium. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5971 (HST Medium Deep Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a long exposure medium deep sky = survey observations at latitudes larger than 10 degrees taken in parallel = with the prime science observations. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 12 Successful : 12 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Operations Notes: A White Sands Ground Test Upgrade low gain antenna test was = unsuccessfully conducted. Analysis revealed that the HST was not in the = TDRSS F1 field of view. The test will be re-scheduled. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
