HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1593 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 03/18/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 03/19/96 Daily Status Report as of 079/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Four Sets of WF/PC-2 6188 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Dark) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal dark calibration images. = The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were = reported. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6726 (PC Astrometry of the Brown Dwarf Candidate = PPL-15). The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep, far red astrometric = observations of the field around the brown dwarf candidate PPL-15. Based = of its radial velocity, the target is thought to be a member of the = Pleiades star cluster. The observations were executed as scheduled, and = no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of FOS/RD 6089 (Eclipse Mapping and Tomography = of the UV Emitting Region of DQ Her) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make rapid = mode ultraviolet observations of the eclipsing binary star 14AUR-C in = order to do eclipse mapping and tomographic studies. Observations were = made of both the ultraviolet continuum and emission lines. A wavelength = calibration image was also taken. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.4 Completed Two Sets of FGS 6239 (Duplicity Among Hyades Stars Cycle = 5, High) The FGSs were used in the TRANS mode to make astrometric = observations of star VA351 which is located in the Hyades Star Cluster to = see if this star is a possible double. This star may have a very low = mass main sequence companion or a degenerate component. The observations = were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed GHRS/2 5894 (The Hot Gaseous Halo of the Large = Magellanic Cloud) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make = observations of star SK-67.76 located in the Large Magellanic Cloud in = order to study the cloud's hot gaseous halo. The spectrographic = observations were used to search for interstellar C IV absorption lines = in the line of sight to the star. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6127 (Velocity Field and Small Scale Structure = in the L1551 IRS5 Jet) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the jet IRS5 located = in Herbig-Haro object L1551-IRS5 in order to study its velocity field and = the time evolution of small structures within the jet. The observations = were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.7 Completed GHRS/1 5882 (Ech-A Studies of Single Interstellar = Clouds) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = Echelle-A spectrographic observations of the star HD91316 (aka, Rho Leo) = in order to study the interstellar absorption line clouds which lies in = the line of sight to that star. The observations were completed as = planned, and no problems were reported. 1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6276 (Peculiar and Interacting Galaxies (WC01): = Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy NGC-6745. The = spatial resolution afforded by the HST is expected to reveal important = facts concerning the nature of this object. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 15 Successful : 15 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
