The observations was completed as planned, and no = problems were reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6646 (WF/PC-2 Imaging Dwarf Spirals) The WF/PC-2 was used to make ultraviolet and blue observations of = the dwarf spiral galaxy D721-5. It is known to have low surface = brightness with very blue mean color but no evidence of recent or past = star formation. The observations were completed as planned, and no = problems were reported. 1.4 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 6187 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Earth Flat) The WF/PC-2 was used to make Earth streak flat calibration images. = These streak flats will be used to produce flat fields, to map the OTA = illumination pattern and, in combination with other data, to produce new = superflats. The observations were completed as planned, and no problems = were reported. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6431 (Determination of the = Extragalactric Distance Scale) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the galaxies NGC-4548 = and NGC-4535 to be used in measuring the periods of Cepheid variable = stars within this galaxies. This will allow for a more accurate estimate = of the distances to these galaxies through the period-luminosity relation = for the Cepheid stars. The observations were executed as scheduled, and = no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5997 (The Cores of Elliptical Galaxies in the = Coma Cluster) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the large elliptical = galaxies NGC-4952 and NGC-5004 which are located in the Coma Cluster. = The purpose is to study the luminosity profiles in their central nuclear = region. The observations were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies = were noted. 1.7 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6361 (High Resolution Imaging of = X-Ray Selected AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make high resolution observations of the = known low red shifted x-ray active galactic nuclei (AGN) MS0719.9+7 and = MS2118.4-1. The observations were completed as = planned, and no anomalies were reported. 1.11 Completed FGS 6047 (Calibrating the Mass Luminosity Relation at = the End of the Main Sequence) The FGS were used to make astrometric observations of star GL469AB = as part of a study to determine its mass luminosity relationship. The = purpose is to measure the precise parallax and relative orbit of its = faint companion. The observations were completed as planned, and no = problems were reported. 1.12 Completed WF/PC-2 6439 (Using Cepheid Based Distance to Test = Large Peculiar Motions) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the spiral galaxy = NGC-4603 which is located in the Centaurus galaxy cluster to look for = Cepheid variable stars to be used to measure the distance to the object, = which in turn will be used to study its large peculiar motions. If this = galaxy is a cluster member, as appears from secondary distance = indicators, then its peculiar velocity is inconsistent with that = predicted from the density field as reconstructed from the observational = distribution of galaxies in the cluster. The observations were executed = as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 1.13 Completed FOC/96 6349 (Snapshot search for High Redshift QSOs = with Far-UV Flux) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make snapshot images of = the quasi-stellar object Q0941+260. The observations were completed as = planned, and no problems were noted. 1.17 Completed WF/PC-2 5990 (Globular Clusters in the Fornax Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to search for globular clusters in galaxy = NGC-1399 which is a member of the Fornax Galactic Cluster. Because the = galaxies in the Fornax Cluster have different morphologies than those of = the local group, the globular cluster systems are also expected to show = differences. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no = anomalies were noted. 1.18 Completed FGS 6036 (Detection and Mass Determination of Low Mass = Companions to nearby M Dwarf) The FGSs were used in both the POS and TRANS modes to make = astrometric observations of low mass companions to M class dwarf star = WR86 and four reference stars. This will lead to a mass determination = for the stars. The observations were completed as planned, and no = anomalies were noted. 1.19 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive = Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations.
