HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1648 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 06/04/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 06/05/96 Daily Status Report as of 157/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5917 (The Globular Clusters in the Fornax Dwarf = - Physical Parameters) The WF/PC-2 was used to search for globular clusters in dwarf = galaxies FORNAX-024 and NGC-1094 which is a member of the Fornax Galactic = Cluster. The cluster age, metal abundances, and radial profiles will be = determined from the data. Because the galaxies in the Fornax Cluster = have different morphologies than those of the local group, the globular = cluster systems are also expected to show differences. The observations = were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed Four Sets of WF/PC-2 6188 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: = Dark) The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal dark calibration images. = The observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were = reported. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6250 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal = Monitor) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a series on internal calibration = observations. Internal flats, biases, and K-Spot calibration images were = taken. These observations are designed to monitor the health of the = cameras. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies = were noted. 1.4 Completed FOC/96 6160 (FOC Cycle 5 UV Throughput Monitoring) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make ultraviolet observa= tions of dwarf standard star BPM16274 and also with the internal = calibration lamp in order monitor the ultraviolet throughput of the = FOC/COSTAR/HST combination. The observations were executed as scheduled, = and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic = fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a = random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled = with no anomalies. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6557 (WF/PC-2 Imaging of Intermediate Redshift = Absorption Selected Galaxies) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the galaxy Q2206 = where a halo appears to be absorbing light from the background = quasi-stellar object (QSO). The observations were completed as planned, = and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 14 Successful : 14 2.3 Operations Note: There were no reported problems in any HST subsystem. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
