HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1685 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 07/29/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 07/30/96 Daily Status Report as of 212/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6584 (Interaction of Supernovae With = Curcumstellar Material) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of Supernova SN1979C. = The objective is to study the interaction between the supernova and the = remnant circumstellar material from the progenitor star, and how that = interaction can sustain supernovae luminosity for long periods. The = observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed FOS/RD 6167 (FOS Cycle 5: Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Both Red and Blue Sides) was used = to make several dark calibration images. All exposures were internals. = All spectra were done in the image mode. The observations were completed = as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed GHRS/1 6692 (The Abundance and Distribution of Deuterium = on Saturn) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = observations of the limb of the planet Saturn and its moon Rhea in order = to study the abundances and distribution of Deuterium in Saturn's upper = atmosphere. The GHRS aperture was allowed to drift across Saturn's limb, = mimicking an occultation. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. = The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were = noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 11 Successful : 11 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Operations Notes: HST personnel experienced an uneventful operational day. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
