HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1686 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 07/30/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 07/31/96 Daily Status Report as of 213/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of FOS/RD 6167 (FOS Cycle 5: Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make several = dark calibration images. All exposures were internals. All spectra was = done in the image mode. The observations were completed as planned, and = no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6903 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Calibration: = Decontamination) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several calibration bias = observations, internal flats, K-Spot images and dark calibration images = which are all part of a Cycle 6 decontamination procedure. No science = was interleaved with the dark exposures. The observations were completed = as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed GHRS/1 6758 (Far UV airglow and Albedo Observations of = Europa and Ganymede) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make far = ultraviolet spectrographic observations of the airglow and albedo of = Jupiter's moon Europa (at Western Elongation). The long term stability = of the oxygen airglow emission and the magnitude of the hemisphere = asymmetry will be determined. The observations were completed as = planned, and no problems were reported. 1.4 Completed FOS/BL 6766 (Narrow Line Seyfert 1S and the Iron Enigma = in Active Galaxies) The FOS (Blue Side) was used to make observations of the 1S class = narrow-lined Seyfert galaxy WPVS007 in order to study its iron enigma. = These data should show correlations between its x-ray spectra, = kinematics, and Fe II spectra. The observations were completed as = planned and no problems were reported 1.5 Completed GHRS/1 6692 (The Abundance and Distribution of Deuterium = on Saturn) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = observations of the limb of the planet Saturn and its moon Rhea in order = to study the abundances and distribution o Deuterium in Saturn's upper = atmosphere. The GHRS aperture was allowed to drift across Saturn's limb, = mimicking an occultation. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. = The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were = noted. 1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6902 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Photometric Calibration = Monitor UV/OPT STD) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both ultraviolet and optical = photometric observations of the standard star GRW+70D582 as part of a = Cycle 6 calibration procedure. This observations was done immediately = before and after decontamination procedures. The observations were = completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 9 Successful : 9 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 12 Successful : 12 2.3 Operations Notes: Ten minutes, 34 seconds of real-time, re-coverable data was lost = when there was a problem with the WSGTU MA antenna. A TTR was written. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
