HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1691 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 08/06/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 08/07/96 Daily Status Report as of 220/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2/GHRS/1/FOS/BL 6567 (Wind of Massive Stars in = Nearby Galaxies) The WF/PC-2, the High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) and the = Faint Object Spectrograph (Blues Side) were used to make observations of = O/B class, hot stars in the local-group, irregular galaxy NGC6822. = Detailed studies of the hot stellar populations in galaxies outside the = Milky Way provide very important tests of the theories of stellar winds = and star formation and evolution. The observations were executed as = scheduled and no anomalies were noted. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 6705 (Below the Lyman Edge: VU Polarimetry of = Quasars) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make = spectrographic polarization observations below the Lyman edge of the = bright quasar UM18. The observations were completed as planned, and no = problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 6 Successful : 6 2.3 Operations Notes: HST flight operations moved to the SAMS at 220/0635Z for one of = the scheduled check-outs of that back-up facility. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
