HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1707 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 08/28/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 08/29/96 Daily Status Report as of 242/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6361 (High Resolution Imaging of X-Ray Selected = AGNs) The WF/PC-2 was used to make high resolution observations of the = known low red shifted x-ray active galactic nuclius (AGN) MS1335.1-3. = These data will allow a study of the optical properties of an unbiased = sample of AGN host galaxies. The observations were completed as = scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed GHRS/1 6828 (Far UV Emission Spectrum and Stellar Winds = of Sirius A and Vega) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make far = ultraviolet observations of the star Vega (aka, HD172167). The proposal = text indicated the the Cycle #1 spectra reviealed unexpected presence of = emission lines and a slight stellar wind. The observations were executed = as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with = flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were = reported. 1.4 Completed Five Sets of WF/PC-2 6634 (Nucleus of Comet = 46P/Wirtanen) The WF/PC-2 was used to make a series of images of the inner = nucleus of the periodic comet 46P/Wirtanen, which is a prime target of = the Rosetta Rendezvous Mission. The HST data will provide color and = rotational data on the nucleus of the comet. The observations were = completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.5 Completed Two Sets of GHRS/1 6171 (CRIMP1: Cycle 5 = Condensed-Regimen Integrated Monitoring Program) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to obtain = darks, internal flats (in photoscan mode), wavelength calibrations and = observations of standard star BD+28D4211. This includes detector = calibration, sensitivity monitoring, and wavelength monitoring. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed Two Sets of FOS/BL 6913 (FOS Cycle 6: Location of = Spectra and Wavelength Calibration) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make a = series of stability calibration measurements of the wavelength location = and the location of the spectra. All the observations were internals. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were = reported. 1.7 Completed GHRS/1 6446 (The High Chromospheres of the late A Stars, = Altar and Alpha Cephei) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make the = observations of the Si IV lines in the high chromosphere of the late, A = class, star Altar (aka, HD187642). These data will be used to construct = a model of the chromosphere structure of this star. The observations = were completed as scheduled, and no anomalies were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 6 Successful : 6 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 17 Successful : 17 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no significant operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
