HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1758 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 11/12/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 11/13/96 Daily Status Report as of 318/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 6903 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Calibration: = Decontamination) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several calibration bias = observations, internal flats, K-Spot images and dark calibration images = which are all part of a Cycle 6 decontamination procedure. No science = was interleaved with the dark exposures. The observations were completed = as scheduled, and no problems were reported. 1.2 Completed FOS/BL 6683 (Eclipsing Binaries in the Magellanic Clouds = - Fundamental Properties A) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make = spectrographic observations of O/B Class, eclipsing binary system star = LMC-HV982 located in the Largel Magellanic Cloud. From these data and = the latest Kurucz model atmospheres, accurate temperatures will be = derived. The guide star re-acquisition scheduled at 317/132911Z was = delayed when fine lock dropped during the re-acquisition period. The = take data flag remained down until 317/1339Z when an automatic = re-acquisition succeeded. As a result, three observations were conducted = with the shutter closed. HSTAR 5796 was written to describe these = events. Otherwise, the observations were executed, and no further = anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed FOS/BL 6407 (Post Asymptotic Giant Branch Evolution in = the Magellanic Clouds) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make = ultraviolet spectrographic observations of the planetary nebulae = LMC-SMP56 which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. These data = should give the spatial structure, size, ionized masses, and dynamic ages = of this object. The observations were executed as planned, and no = problems were reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6934 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Photometric Zero-Point) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of standard star = GRW+70D582 in order to complete a zero-point calibration observation. = The purpose of this program is to verify synthetic zero-point of the = WF/PC-2 filters. The observation was executed as scheduled, and no = anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed FOS/BL 6409 (Spectroscopy of the WR Central Star of the = LMC-PN-N66) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make = observations of the central Wolf-Rayette star in the planetary nebula = LMC-N66-CS which is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The central = star has developed strong W-R features in just the last few years and = also shows large variability in its continuum. The observations were = completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 10 Successful : 10 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 One of the re-acquisitions was delayed. See 1.2 for details. 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 10 Successful : 10 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no significant operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
