HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1763 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 11/19/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 11/20/96 Daily Status Report as of 325/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed FOS/BL 6781 (Soft X-Rays and the UV Spectra of a = Complete QSO Sample) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to obtain = ultraviolet spectra of the low-Z quasi-stellar object PG1626+554. The = ionization continuum of this object has been studied using the ROSAT = satellite. The strengths and line profiles of strong and weak = ultraviolet emission and absorption lines and the ultraviolet continuum = were studied. The observations were completed as planned and no = anomalies were reported. 1.2 Completed WF/P-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5) The WF/PC-2 was use to make random long exposures of high galactic = fields taken in parallel with the prime science observations to obtain a = random sample of galaxies. The observations were executed as scheduled, = and no anomalies were noted. 1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 6802 (Cosmology With the Medium Deep Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations taken in parallel with = the prime science observations as part of the Medium Deep Sky Survey. = The observations were executed as scheduled, and no problems were = reported. 1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6905 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Calibration: Internal = Monitor) The WF/PC-2 was used to make several internal calibrations = observations including biases and internal flats as part of a Cycle 6 = calibrations procedure. A variety of internal exposures are run weekly = to verify and monitor the health of the camera. The observations were = executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 6749 (A Study of the Gaseous Halo of the = Andromeda Galaxy) The WF/PC-2 was used to make absorption line spectrographic = observations of object QSO 0039+4005 which is located behind the = Andromeda Galaxy (aka, M-31) in order to study the galaxy's gaseous halo. = The QSO's light passes through the galaxy. The distribution, = ionization, and kinematics of the gas will be investigated. A wavelength = calibration image was also taken. The observations were completed as = planned and no anomalies were reported. 1.6 Completed FOS/RD 6912 (FOS Cycle 6: Dark Monitoring) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make = measurements of the internal background. All exposures were internals, = and the spectrographic observations were made in the image mode. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 2 Successful : 2 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 15 Successful : 15 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 1 Successful : 1 2.3 Operations Notes: HST operations tranferred to the SAMS backup facility at 325/0830Z = in preparation for maintenance activities in the MOR area. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
