HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1775 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 12/09/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 12/10/96 Daily Status Report as of 345/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6344 (Low - Mass Binaries in the Hyades - = Completing the Survey) The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the low mass binary = star RHY271 (M-Class Dwarf Stars) which is located in the Hyades Cluster. = The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were = noted. 1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 6902 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 6 Photometric Calibration = Monitor UV/OPT STD) The WF/PC-2 was used to make both ultraviolet and optical = photometric observations of the standard star GRW+70D582 as part of a = Cycle 6 calibration procedure. These observations were done immediately = before and after decontamination procedures. The observations were = completed as planned, and no problems were reported. 1.3 Completed GHRS/1 6707 (M-33: An Archetypal QSO Absorption Line = Galaxy) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make = observations of the C IV, Si IV, and Si II spectrographic absorption = lines in QSO Q0123+3121 whose light passes through the galaxy M-33. = This allows for one to probe into the interstellar medium in outer disk = and halo of galaxy M-33. A wavelength calibration image was also taken. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were noted. 1.4 Completed Three Sets of WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive = Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with = flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were = reported. 1.5 Completed FGS 6472 (Dynamical Masses for the Stars in the = Pre-Main-Sequence Classification) FGS #3 was used in both the TRANS and POS to make astrometric = observations of the pre-main-Sequence, binary system, star STAR-04560 = (aka, 045251+3016). These data will be used to measure its dynamical = mass ratio of the pair, and the inclination of their orbits. The = observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.6 Completed FOC/48 6308 (Long Slit Spectroscopy of the Narrow Line = Region of Seyfert Galaxies) The Faint Object Camera (f/48) was used to make long slit = spectrographic observations of the narrow line region of Seyfert galaxy = MRK-3. The slit was placed at several different positions across the = nuclear region of the target. An internal flat and a dark calibration = image were also taken. The observations were executed as scheduled, and = no anomalies were reported. 1.7 Completed GHRS/2 6899 (GHRS Cycle 6 Echelle Wavelength Monitor) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to execute a = wavelength calibration observation of its Echelle spectrograph using an = internal standard lamp. The observations were executed as scheduled, and = no anomalies were noted. 1.8 Completed GHRS/2 6712 (The Gaseous Extent of Galaxies: How Far is = Too Far?) The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make = spectrographic observations of quasar Q1001+2901 which is located in a = field of galaxies in which the proposers have carried out extensive = redshift surveys. A wave length calibration image was also taken. The = observations were completed as planned and no problems were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 5 Successful : 5 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 8 Successful : 8 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 15 Successful : 15 2.3 Operations Notes: There were no reported operational problems. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Nothing at this time. /DMH
