HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #1782 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 12/18/96 - 0000Z (UTC) 12/19/96 Daily Status Report as of 354/0000Z 1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: The following scheduled proposals did not execute due to the safemode event which occurred at 352/0213Z: 1.1 GHRS/1 6422 (Spin Cycle Variations of the UV Emission Lines of Intermediate Polars) 1.2 Two Sets of WF/PC-2 7211 (WF/PC-2 Pre-SM97 UV Baseline Observation.) 1.3 FOS/BL 6682 (Geometry and Generalizability of the Reflected Light Model for Seyfert Galaxies) 1.4 FGS 6920 (Monitoring the Long Term Stability of FGS #3) 1.5 One iteration of WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) 1.6 One iteration of FOS/BL 6053 (Extreme UV Stars in Omega Cent) Normal science operations were resumed at 353/2200Z. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 6253 (Pure Parallel Archive Program) The WF/PC-2 was used to execute a pure parallel program taking = ultraviolet observations running concurrently with prime science = observations. The intent is to search for extra-galactic sources with = flux excesses at 3000 A0 and galactic sources with excesses at 1600 A0. = The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were = reported. 1.8 Completed FOS/BL 6053 (Extreme UV Stars in Omega Cent) The Faint Object Spectrograph (Blue Side) was used to make = spectrographic observations of extremely ultraviolet bright stars in = globular cluster NGC-5139 (aka, Omega Cent). These stars were also = viewed by the UIT on ASTRO-1. The observations were executed as = scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions : 3 Successful : 3 Scheduled Reacquisitions : 4 Successful : 4 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled : 11 Successful : 09 Update failures occurred at 353/1225Z and 353/1710Z. 2.3 Operations Notes: There was a 38-minute, 11-second 32k unrecoverable loss of data, = beginning at 353/1748Z, due to software problems at WSGT. 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: SM2 JIS #7 (Rendezvous) is scheduled for tomorrow. /DMH
