HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE DAILY REPORT #2527 PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 12/27/99 - 0000Z (UTC) 12/28/99 Daily Status Report as of 362/0000Z 1.0 OBSERVATIONS SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED: 1.1 Completed S/C 8521 (Guide Star Acquisition Verification for FGS1 and FGS3) After the release of HST from the shuttle bay it is necessary to verify that the guide star acquisitions can be performed successfully. Two pairs of guide stars will be acquired in FGS1 and FGS3 and held in fine lock for 5 minutes. The proposal completed nominally. 1.2 Completed the Safemode Recovery of the FOC. 1.3 Completed Two Sets of Safemode Recovery of STIS. 1.4 Completed the Recovery of COSTAR to Hold Mode. 1.5 Completed the Safemode Recovery of NICMOS. 1.6 Four Sets of FGS 8532 (White Dwarf and M-Stars in the Solar Neighborhood; Revealing Binarity) FGS-1 was used to conduct a high angular resolution survey with FGS1r to detect binarity among nearby M dwarfs and white dwarfs. One astrometry observation at 361/17:32 was lost due to search radius limit exceeded, due to problem with proposal. 1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 8491 (Transition to hold, Decon and Cool Down Procedure) This program covers the transition from Protect Safe Mode to Hold Mode, then performs a Protect Decontamination. This is followed by a series of UV monitors and focus checks at -43C, then a special decon to take the instrument to -88C. The program completed nominally. 1.8 Completed Five Sets of STIS/CCD 8502 (CCD Functional for SMOV3a) The Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (CCD) was used to measure the baseline performance and commandability of the CCD subsystem. The proposal completed normally. 1.9 Completed FOC/96 7923 (FOC F/96 Turn-on) The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to take an internal flat and a dark to ensure that the 30-day limit for the FOC is not exceeded. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.10 Completed S/C 5582 (FOC/48 Monthly Activation (Camera Section Only): Cycle 4) This proposal was executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted. 1.11 Completed Two Sets of S/C 8519 (Exercising the HST 486 Flight Software) The objective of this test is to exercise and verify the new 486 computer and pointing control system flight software with activities not utilized in other SMOV3A proposals. This includes moving target tracking while under FGS control, the gen-slew capability, guide star handoffs, handoffs from FGS control to gyro control while tracking, onboard parallax correction and verification that the 2047s tracking limit no longer applies. No problems were encountered. 2.0 FLIGHT OPERATIONS SUMMARY: 2.1 Guide Star Acquisitions: Scheduled Acquisitions: 16 Successful: 16 Scheduled Re-acquisitions: 00 Successful: 00 2.2 FHST Updates: Scheduled: 41 Successful: 40 2.3 Operations Notes: 3.0 SIGNIFICANT FORTHCOMING EVENTS: Continuation of SMOV and normal science observations and calibrations. /CAW
