Here is a list of things of things we did to assemble the ADASS VI volume, AFTER we thought we were done editing the contributions. These are the checked off items of a "to do" list, and have some things specific to our volume. arranged directories for contributions and the book modified the Makefile, etc., for this arrangement assembled book.tex. I thought I had a Perl script for making a first pass at this, but I can't find it. hammered on the contributions until the book would process all the way to the end. marked invited talks. Took out latex2e font type things. Took out multiply named labels. Added author index information. correct spacing in names. Fix " => `` or '' Comma after i.e. and e.g. Not italic Period after etc. Add cross-references between papers. Work on references. and => &, for example. make sure \adassvi references say 1997! adass iii, iv, and v links figure, Fig., fig., ... => Figure titles too wide for page header schulmane used raw \specials for figures! Expunge plotfiddle commands. x => $\times$ check author index against toc finish the index. look at each "-". Em dashes don't have spaces around them. work on tables ascii, Ascii => ASCII 1-d, 1d => 1-D ??? Fortran, FORTRAN, ... =>\fortran{} CDROM => CD-ROM gaussian => Gaussian look for capitals at end of sentences. add \pslink to figure captions Email => E-mail Unix, unix => UNIX postscript, Postscript => PostScript X-windows, X Windows, ... => X-Windows e-mail addresses => mailto in htmladdnormallink No space after \title{ double quotes by default in text correct use of possessive ('s) it's vs its disallow ALLCAP's as plural => ALLCAPs internet => Internet web => Web when referring to WWW \, between number and unit byte => Byte when used as a unit MB, GB, TB, kB for mega, giga, tera, kilobyte "in preparation" in references moves to text, delete reference at end of paper. added references to Tody paper modelling => modeling no bold, italics, or Greek symbols in titles or section headings properly capitalize title and section headings. in a title, the word after a colon is capitalized, even if "a" or "the" do a global search for "the the". You'll be amazed. 1--12 => one -- twelve thirteen up => 13 ... when footnoting, order is item, punctuation mark, footnote e.g., (ISO).\footnote{... et al. in a reference is OK for seven or more authors. check for an italic correction after \it and \em text, but not if the next character is , or . math mode is NOT italics.
