Poster making This directory contains a LaTeX style file and patches for Tomas Rokicki's dvips to allow you to produce posters: big text on big pages. The style file defines big PostScript fonts, continuing in the style of the psfonts.sty file distributed with dvips. The patches modify dvips to define a "poster" special, which allows a large page to be printed on several sheets of paper, which you can then cut and paste into a poster. The difference from other poster schemes is that once you figure out how big you want your poster, you put that information into your .tex file and can then run dvips without remembering what you decided. Also included here are a user's guide and a sample poster. Here you should find: README these comments monster.sty LaTeX style file for LaTeX 2.09 defining big fonts, as an add-on to psfonts.sty. monster2e.sty LaTeX package for LaTeX2e defining big fonts patch.dvips??? A patch file for version ??? of dvips posters.tex, example*.ps A user's guide, and included PostScript figures (using psfig! Sorry about that!). You don't need anything from this kit to process the document. If you don't have the psfig macros, you can get them from whitechapel.media.mit.edu. banner.tex, banner2e.tex, banner.ps Example LaTeX files and dvips output. Put monster.sty in your TEXINPUTS directory. Big versions of some Computer Modern fonts are named, in case you need capital Greek letters or math symbols. Make sure that your MakeTeXPK script is working, so that these pixel files can be built if necessary. Apply the patches in the dvips source directory, using Larry Wall's patch program: patch < poster.patchwhatever The patches have been tested under SunOS, Solaris 2, VAX/VMS, and Alpha/OpenVMS with letter and A4 sized pages, and the output PostScript has been previewed with Ghostscript and Sun's pageview. I would be happy to receive your comments and suggestions for improvements.
