Available Science Time and Orientation Tool for Cycle 16

This tool provides results for the Cycle 16 timeframe. If you need to check schedulability for the Cycle 15 timeframe (e.g. you are submitting a DD proposal), please go to the links under Cycle 15 Tools located in the navigation pane on the left side of this page.

Three plots (and corresponding tabular views of the data) are returned showing available orientations and science times throughout the year for two gyro operations at five degree intervals on the sky. These plots are:

  1. Target Visibility versus Month. This shows the amount of unocculted observing time available during Cycle 16 (Valid Dates: 1-Jul-2007 to 31-Dec-2008).
  2. Number of available days per year versus Orientation. This plot can be used to assess how many days in Cycle 16 an orientation is available.
  3. Orientation versus Month. This plot can be used to check when a particular orientation (roll angle) is available in Cycle 16 (Valid Dates: 1-Jul-2007 to 31-Dec-2008).

Some background on scheduling observations in two-gyro mode, a detailed description of the content of these plots, and some examples of how to use them can be found in Chapter 2 of the Two-Gyro Handbook. Also, we have provided a short explanation of the plots. This information is based upon current estimates for scheduling of two-gyro observations and may be updated based on on-orbit experience.

The plots closest to the RA and Dec you enter will be displayed.
