Available Science Time and Orientation Tool (Cycle 15)

Warning: The output of this tool is useful only for Cycle 15, not the upcoming proposal cycle. For cycle 16 proposals use the cycle 16 tools.

This tool returns three plots (and tabular views of the data) showing available orientations and science times throughout the year for two gyro operations at five degree intervals on the sky. These plots are:

  1. Visibility versus month. This plot shows the amount of unocculted observing time available during Cycle 15 and the first half of Cycle 16 (1-Jul-2006 to 31-Dec-2007).
  2. Number of days versus orientation. This plot can be used to assess how many days in Cycle 15 an orientation is available.
  3. Orientation versus month. This plot can be used to check when a particular orientation (roll angle) is available in Cycle 15 and the first half of Cycle 16 (1-Jul-2006 to 31-Dec-2007).

Some background on scheduling observations in two-gyro mode, a detailed description of the content of these plots, and some examples of how to use them can be found in Chapter 2 of the HST Two-Gyro Handbook. Also, a short explanation of the plots is available. This information is based upon current estimates for scheduling of two-gyro observations and may be updated based on on-orbit experience.

The plots closest to the RA and Dec you enter will be displayed.
