FGS Control Target Acquisition and Position Mode Tracking Transfer Mode Acquisition and Scanning Visit Level Control

This chapter describes the acquisition of targets in both Position and Transfer Modes. In addition to the "science exposure", the dataset for a given observation includes photometric measurements of the background as well as the acquisition of the target. The background data are used by the calibration pipeline in the reduction of data. The acquisition data can be helpful in the analysis of failed observations.
