GHRS Instrument Science Report 074: Introduction
[Previous][Next][Up]
Cycle 6 is the last with the GHRS operating onboard HST before its
removal during the 1997 Servicing Mission. The GHRS has been operating nominally
in most respects since the first Servicing Mission. Therefore the philosophy of
the Cycle 6 calibration plan is to continue with the ongoing monitor programs
during Cycle 6. They will be scheduled such that a smooth transition between
Cycle 5 and 6 occurs, and that science observations are bracketed by
calibrations at the end of the cycle.
There will be one special GHRS calibration program in addition to the routine
monitors during Cycle 6. A close-out sensitivity measurement will be performed
when the COSTAR mirrors have been removed from the GHRS light path. This test
is also described in this ISR.
