GHRS Instrument Science Report 079 "Interpreting GHRS Target Positioning" A. Schultz, J. Bacinski, and L. Sherbert February 4, 1997 Abstract Frequently asked questions by GHRS observers and archival researchers include "Was the target acquired?" and, "How well centered was the target in the aperture?" This ISR will address these two questions using specific examples of successful and failed GHRS acquisitions. Pre-COSTAR and Post-COSTAR acquisitions will be discussed. Included are descriptions of other potential guiding and pointing problems and their effect upon GHRS science observations.
