ETC 18 Bugs and Special Notices
This page holds information about know issues or ETC bugs identified since ETC v18.2 was installed.
This page shows current issues with ETC 18.2 as well as ETC FAQs. Other information pertinent to the ETCs for each instrument can also be found at their ETC web pages: ACS, COS, NICMOS, STIS, WFC3.
COS
COS Spectroscopic TA for G285M, 2739 Å
Using this mode in the ETC will cause a JavaNullPointerException error. There is currently no workaround. If you need to use this mode, contact the helpdesk.
ETC calculations using the G140L grating
Cycle 18 COS/G140L ETC users are advised that the there is a discrepancy between the G140L central wavelengths as presented in APT, and the G140L central wavelengths as provided in the ETC. The central wavelength listed as “1280 Å” in the APT corresponds to the central wavelength listed as “1250 Å” in the ETC page for COS.
STIS
Internal Error (no PEA found for this exposure)
On all STIS Spectroscopic forms, you may get the error “Internal error (no PEA found for this exposure)”
This error is caused by a JavaScript glitch that sometimes occurs when the user selects an extended source and clicks on the “Use a region of height N pixels” button under the point source selection.
This is an occasional glitch, and will usually not occur again if you enter your form data again (or simply hit the “Back” button) and then submit again. If you do encounter this error and it does not go away when re-submitting, please contact the helpdesk to report the issue.
