Additional documentation for Phase II proposal preparation

  • Instrument Handbooks and Reports
The home pages for the individual scientific instruments ( ACS, COS, FGS, NICMOS, STIS, and WFC3) contain pointers to critical technical documentation such as the Instrument Handbooks and Instrument Science Reports.
  • Fixed Target Coordinate Measurement
The HST reference frame has been changed, starting with Cycle 15 observations. HST will now use the GSC II, which has been calibrated to be on the International Celestial Reference System. Target coordinates from GSC I can still be used if scientifically necessary. Click on the link above to access tools and instructions for retrieving your target coordinates from the HST Guide Star Catalog and/or measuring your target in the HST Guide Star Coordinate system. There is also a tool for converting GSC I coordinates into GSC II coordinates.
  • HST Documents
This page provides a list of documents that could be useful to the observer.
