Visual Target Tuner

The Visual Target Tuner (VTT) displays apertures superimposed on FITS format sky images. You can import Digitized Sky Survey images, 2MASS images, NED images, or other suitable FITS images on your local disk. From there you can display primary and parallel apertures, rotate apertures, centroid objects, and display catalog overlays.

The VTT is available as a standalone tool as well as tool integrated into the APT package. Either way you will need to install APT to use the VTT.

The VTT can be used by:

  • People working on their Phase I proposals.
  • People working on their Phase II proposals.
  • People who would like to use the VTT to plot the results of a StarView query (the interface to the HST archive).
  • People who would like to explore NED, SIMBAD or the Guide Star Catalog, against a FITS image.
