Use VTT for Phase I

People working on their Phase I proposals can use the VTT for questions such as:

How many exposures will I need to mosaic my extended target?
Which of my potential targets "fits best" in the aperture?
Is there anything interesting I can observe with a coordinated parallel in another aperture?
Do any of my potential targets have n earby bright objects that could spoil the observation? (There is a "Bright Object" tool within the VTT to help you find bright objects even if they are not bright on the visual plates.)
Is there an orientation which would avoid the bright object?

Learning the Unsupported Standalone Version of VTT:

After you have downloaded and installed the APT, start it up by choosing Programs>APT150>VTT (under Windows) or type ./VTT at the command line in your home directory (linux/ unix). A splash screen should appear while the program loads. Once the program is started you will be presented with the main VTT screen. Now you can get off to a quick start using the "Target Tuner Help" in the "Help" menu. In only a few steps you can have an image loaded and HST apertures overlayed.
