2.5 Funding
Subject to availability of funds from NASA, STScI will provide financial support for U.S. PIs and CoIs of approved Cycle 17 programs. Budgets for GO and SNAPSHOT proposals are not due in Phase I, but are required in Phase II from successful proposers. AR and Theory proposals must include a budget guideline (See Section 8.6.3), but detailed budgets are not required until Phase II. Details of the STScI Funding Policies (including the definition of the term `U.S. Investigators') are outlined in Chapter 12.
ESA does not fund HST research programs. Therefore, successful ESA member-state proposers should seek any necessary resources from their respective home institutions or national funding agencies. ESA observers do, however, have access to the data-analysis facilities and technical support of the staff of the ST-ECF (see Appendix A.2), in addition to those of STScI.
