June 2000 anneal report for program 8410.
There was an anneal of the CCD on June 1th, 2000, 26 days after the
previous anneal on May 6th, 2000. A homogeneous set of data was obtained
from proposal 8410: The Continuing Monthly Anneal Monitor.
This month has a particularly large percentage of 0.1 and 1 e/s level pixels
annealed, larger that in any other period before. For 10 e/s level pixels
there was one less pixel previous to the anneal than in the previous month
post-anneal and only 2% were annealed. The large drop in the number of hot pixels
in this period cannot be attributed completely to the anneal itself, but also
to the low percentage of pixels created during this month.
Although the number of hot pixels was brought to the level of post-anneal
hot pixels of 2 months ago, we expect that previous trends will re-appear on
future anneals.
1) The number of post anneal hot pixels was considerably reduced. This is in part
due to the small increase on the number of hot
pixels between the last post-anneal and this month pre-anneal data.
> 0.1 e/s: 14295 pixels on June 1
> 1.0 e/s: 2988
> 10. e/s: 315
> 0.1 e/s: 14628 pixels on May 6
> 1.0 e/s: 3004
> 10. e/s: 324
> 0.1 e/s: 14258 pixels on April 6
> 1.0 e/s: 2936
> 10. e/s: 318
> 0.1 e/s: 14249 pixels on March 8
> 1.0 e/s: 2890
> 10. e/s: 287
2) The *raw* post-anneal dark countrate for this anneal is 0.0225 cts/pixel.
This compares with 0.0233 cts/pixel in May 2000, and 0.017 cts/pixel in
May 99.
3) The iterated median count rate (after iterating up to 30 times by
eliminating pixels +/- 5*sigma) is 0.00401.
4) The creation rates for hot pixels over this period were low compared with
any other period before.

> 0.1 e/s: 42.2 pixels/day in May 99
> 1.0 e/s: 5.6
> 10 e/s: 0.5
5) The rate at which new hot pixels annealed out was larger than any other
period before.
