STIS Exposure Time Calculators

The Exposure Time Calculators (ETCs) are online tools that predict the count rates and S/N in various observing modes given specified source characteristics.

New and improved Java versions were released on 2004-Apr-14. Some of the improvements included are (complete list) :

• better treatment of PSFs, backgrounds, extended sources, and emission lines;
• imaging acquisition/peakup calculations for point sources.

The links below provide access to the new ETCs through an interface with the same look-and-feel as the old (CGI) ETCs.
