ProcurementProcurement Mission StatementThe mission of the Space Telescope Science Institute's Procurement Department is to provide goods and services in a professional, reliable and responsive manner consistent with good business practices and federal and local laws, resulting in the lowest overall cost to STScI, while meeting quality, schedule and performance requirements. Primary Objectives To cooperate with other branches, divisions, and departments by providing prompt, efficient, and reliable services in a courteous manner. To procure material, supplies, equipment, and services at the most economical cost in a timely manner. To find and maintain an adequate base of reliable vendors. To promote sound relationships with the community and businesses through the practice of ethical principles and fair dealings. Review and make necessary changes to Supplier Agreements to ensure that STScI's interests are protected. Vendor Qualifications Vendors are selected for their price, quality, availability of the required quantity, and delivery. Past performance is an important factor. Vendors must comply with NASFAR regulations, state and local laws and directives. The Institute is committed to the principles of Affirmative Action and shall endeavor to apply these principles in its procurement practices (e.g., small, small-disadvantaged and woman-owned businesses).
