Tom’s career in management started at the International Ultraviolet Explorer Project, where he managed the Data Analysis Center from 1993 to 1995 under the employ of CSC. After leaving scientific work, Tom integrated the customer support systems for Bell Atlantic’s (now Verizon’s) ISP startup. He quickly became known as a project turn-around specialist and fast-track salesman in the IT industry. During these last five years Tom has been developing EvolvingSuccess, a leadership training concept that focuses on corporate culture engineering as the key to any successful organization. In the October-November, 2007 time frame, his book with Terry Teays entitled “Optimizing Luck: What the Passion to Succeed in Space Can Teach Business Leaders on Earth” will be released by Davies-Black Publishing. It is based on the management and culture of the IUE Project, still considered by most to be one of the finest observatories ever run, and the best place one could have ever worked.
