The Office of Public Outreach (OPO) works to inspire, excite, challenge and inform through the news media, the web, education venues ranging from schools to museums, and more. We bring the wonders of Hubble and Webb and the joy of scientific discovery to the public—and we want you to join us. Use your expertise and knowledge to engage the public, increase awareness of astronomy and bring scientific literacy to all ages.
News:
The News program reaches over 100 million people every year, producing news releases and images that are swept up by television, print and online media, and carried throughout our culture. In addition to press releases and images, the news team creates scientific illustrations, 3-D animations and videos that contain interviews and on-site reporting, all of which can be found on HubbleSite.
- Share Your Science: We're always looking for science from Hubble or other research worthy of attention. If you or your colleagues have a result of such significance or uniqueness that it may be interesting to the public, contact villard@stsci.edu or gundy@stsci.edu.
Online Outreach:
Online Outreach specializes in developing content for the web, including the popular Hubblesite.org website and the Webb Telescope portal. Online Outreach personally connects people to the Hubble mission with online technologies that range from e-mail newsletters to video podcasts.
- Share Your Stories: HubbleSite is always looking for interesting, behind-the-scenes stories we can turn into website features. Do you have research that will fascinate the public? A project whose development makes for the kind of story worth sharing? E-mail stratis@stsci.edu
- Join Our Social Media Team: Outreach involvement doesn't have to be time-consuming or involved – it can be as simple as clicking a button. Like HubbleSite's Facebook page, join us on Google+, follow and retweet our posts on Twitter, and share our pins on Pinterest.
- Provide Contacts: We're reaching out to bloggers, podcasters, YouTube channels, Twitter users, and more. Know of a good outlet that covers astronomy, science, technology, or more? - Join Citizen Engagement Projects: Our Hubble Image Processors group provides a venue for amateur image processors to come together, share their work, and exchange information and advice. Education:
The Formal and Informal Education programs develop products and services for diverse education communities: schools, universities, planetariums, museums, and more. Educators and scientists work together to create tools, exhibits, and workshops that use the wonder of Hubble discoveries to meet the needs of these communities, motivate students, and engage the public.

Astrophysics Forum:
The Astrophysics Forum is one of the four science education and public outreach forums working closely with NASA's Science Mission Directorate to support and coordinate the education and public outreach community. It facilitates communication and collaboration between NASA missions, and connects scientists and educators with opportunities for education and public outreach.
