The COS+STIS Team resides in the Instruments Division and supports science operations of the two main spectrographic instruments that will be operational in the future of HST. These are the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph (COS), which will be installed during HST Servicing Mission 4 (SM4), and the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS), which operated from 1997 to 2004, and which will resume operations after SM4 if an attempted repair is successful. The team is responsible for instrument calibrations and documentation, and provides support to Guest and Guaranteed Time Observers using these instruments. Having a combined team support these two instruments allows for sharing of expertise and more effective and efficient accomplishment of common tasks.
