Distribution of Exposure Times from the Pure Parallel Program
Below, we present histograms to help you estimate the number of pointings of different durations which you can expect from the Archival Pure Parallel program. The histograms presented below describe the data obtained as of January 1, 1998 from the early STIS Parallel Pure Parallel. This program started during June, 1997, so the histograms displayed describe the data accumulated from this program over a roughly 6 month period. In the plots below a `pointing' is defined as all observations within a 5 by 5 arcsecond box.

Figure 1 Histogram of the total exposure time per pointing, in hours, for the STIS imaging and spectroscopic pure parallel pointings, combined.

Figure 2 The same as Figure 1, except the time per pointing is given in minutes, and only pointings with total exposure times shorter than 2 hours are shown.

Figure 3 Histogram of the total exposure time per pointing, in hours, for STIS G750L Slitless Spectroscopy only, showing only those pointings where the total integration time using G750L is greater than or equal to 1 hour.

Figure 4 Histogram of the total exposure time per pointing, in minutes, for STIS Imaging, only, showing only those pointings where the integrated exposure time in imaging mode is greater than or equal to 30 minutes.
