The Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) is a Canadian Space Agency (CSA) provided subsystem that will be used as the sensor for fine pointing control during all science observations and as a science imager to acquire narrow band NIR images of a variety of astrophysical targets. The FGS is comprised of a dual channel dedicated guider (FGS- Guider) and a tunable filter science instrument (designated FGS-TFI). Although structurally and thermally housed in the ISIM, the FGS has its own electronics ancomputer processor. The detectors will be HgCdTe arrays built by Rockwell Scientific.
