An accurate estimate of the star formation rates for these objects requires a measurement of the line-free UV continuum, which must be taken at infrared wavelengths. Here we propose to obtain imaging with WFC3 in the F140W filter for a sample of 9 Lyman alpha galaxies with redshifts z~6.5 up to z=6.740 from a complete, flux-limited widefield narrowband and multi-color survey conducted on the 8-m Subaru Telescope. This program will investigate galaxy morphologies and star formation for a uniform sample of the highest redshift galaxies now known. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ We will observe each of the galaxies in the sensitive broad band filter F160W using the NIC2 camera. (The F110W band contains emission from the Lyman alpha line.) We will not observe at longer wavelengths where we already have very deep ground based K images with 0.4'' resolution obtained with the CISCO camera on the Subaru 8m telescope. The filter and camera combination provides the required angular resolution and minimizes detector issues. The 19'' FOV of NIC2 will also allow us to easily match the images to the ground data and will also allow us to look for peripheral objects or structure in the vicinity of the galaxy. We have calculated the exposure times to give a S/N of 10 assuming that the surface brightness is uniform over a 0.5 square arcsecond region and using a J band flux for the objects of $2.5\times10^{-30}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ Hz$^{-1}$ at 1.1 microns (the average flux measured on stacked ground-based images). If the galaxies are highly structured we should obtain better S/N in the bright components. We require 3 orbits per galaxy for the F160W observations.
