Proffitt Computer Sciences Corporation N CoI: Mr. Matt Mcmaster Space Telescope Science Institute N ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Abstract We observe one type K star (G Gem) with ACS/SBC and STIS in order to determine the throughput in the red leak of both the SBC and the STIS FUV-MAMA. We will also observe the type G9V star HD53143 with the SBC with all long-pass filters and the PR130L in order to compare the observed fluxes and the spectrum with a previous prism observation of the same star and investigate the possible time dependence of the red leak. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Observations Description ------------------------ We will use the STIS/CCD to obtain low-resolution spectra of G Gem from 1680 to 10270 A. Comparing this spectrum with that from the SBC PR110L will provide the most straightforward test of a red leak in the SBC. Assuming that the ACS/SBC and the STIS/FUV-MAMA red leaks have the same wavelength dependence, we will use observations of the star through a variety of FUV filters to determine the effect of the red leak on each. We will also observe HD53143 with ACS/SBC using the whole set of long-pass filters and the PR130L prism. We will compare the spectra and images with a previous observation of the same star in order to investigate the possible time dependence of the red leak (Boffi et al. 2008 ACS-TIR 2008-002). We will compare the observed spectrum with the flux measured in each LP filers to investigate the properties of the red leak in the detector and in each of the filters.
