The Giacconi Fellowship honors Nobel Laureate and founding director of the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), Riccardo Giacconi. The fellowship provides up to three years of support at STScI for outstanding postdoctoral researchers in any field of astronomy, astrophysics, or planetary science. The research may be theoretical, observational, or instrumental.

The fellowship includes a competitive salary, generous benefits, and a budget to cover research expenses. Fellows are selected based on applicants’ accomplishments and proposed research. The fellowship is awarded every two out of three years. You must have received (or expect to receive) your PhD before the commencement of the fellowship.
