Dr. Stevenson is a research astronomer in the instruments division at STScI. He is the JWST transiting exoplanets working group lead and a Contact Scientist for HST's WFC3 instrument. Stevenson is interested in characterizing the architectures and atmospheres of extrasolar planets to better understand their nature and origin. As part of his research, Stevenson manages the Exoplanet Characterization ToolKit (ExoCTK) and is a member of the Origins Space Telescope (OST) STDT.
- Atmospheric characterization of transiting exoplanets
- Exoplanet classification
- Transit timing variations
- Detecting signs of life (i.e. biosignatures) in habitable zone exoplanets
