Stuff

Some people keep bees, others spend way too much time browsing the global information network - I build stuff.

Or at least I used to. Before University I was always making little electronic gizmos that did.. well not that much really.. but it was fun and I want to do it again dagnamit! - and what with writing the thesis and all, I need to do something to keep me sane. Hence when I found this article (yes, I read coding4fun) I knew what I had to do.

When I'm on the computer I don't like lots of windows lying ontop of what I'm working on. So I tend to minimise my music applications and get annoyed when a notification pops up. Hence I like the idea of having a separate display that will show and handle all these 'background' tasks whilst I'm working - i.e. an external LCD display. Well you can buy ones that mount in your 5¼" drive bay but it's difficult finding standalone ones for your desktop - so I'm gonna build one...

Over the next several pages I'm going to record the build so that I can re-live all the joys of making this.. thing.. whenever I look back at this in the future.
