SHORT RESUME OF PATRICK GODON
Work Experience and Research:
- May 2000 - now Research Assistant Professor,
Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics,
Villanova University (PA).
Working on Cataclysmic Variable Systems,
with Professor Edward M. Sion.
- Nov 1997 - May 2000 Postdoctoral Fellow at the Space Telescope Science
Institute: numerical simulations of accretion disks and
planetary atmosphere (with M. Livio).
- Jan 1995 - Oct 1997:
Postdoctoral research at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory:
numerical simulations of accretion disks, boundary
layers, Astrophysical Jets (with D.L. Meier).
- Dec 1993 - Dec 1994:
Unformal postdoc at the Racah Institute of Physics, Jerusalem
(A. Dekel) and postdoc at Oranima (N. Soker) working on boundary
layers, accretion discs and clusters cooling flows.
Education: - PhD, Physics, Nov 1993 Technion,
under the supervision of Professor
Giora Shaviv: "Investigation of the Boundary Layer
Problem by the Spectral Method".
- MS, Physics, Feb 1989 Technion,
under the supervision of Professors Giora Shaviv and Josef Ashkenazi:
The Equations of State of a H-He mixture in WD conditions by the LMTO
(Linear Muffin-Tin Orbital) Method.
- BS, Physics, Jun 1986 Technion
Numerical Skills: Computational Fluid Dynamics.
I have developed and used a Fourier-Chebyshev spectral method
to solve partial differential equations on computers (mainly in
Computational Fluid Dynamics) in 1D and 2D. I have developed a Multigrid
method for finite difference solvers (using the full
approximation storage) in 1D, 2D and 3D for multivariables
problems.
Computer Skills:
Programming with FORTRAN (including PGPLOT);
Parallel coding using MPI (Message-Passing Interface);
Graphics and animations with XV, MPEG-commands, Movieconvert;
Work experience on Work Stations (UNIX on Sun, IBM
Risk, Silicon Graphics) and Personal Computers (DOS and
Windows); Work experience on Supercomputers (CalTech/JPL Cray YMP2E/232)
and Massively Parallel Machines (CalTech/JPL Convex SPP2000).
