Personal Review :
Got stuck one evening with heavy rain and traffic and flooded roads that
eventually quided us toward the new Silver Spring Mining Company restaurant
in Cockeysville. We decided to head in for dinner and wait out the traffic.
Our impression from the outside was that this might not be the kind of place
we would care for given the bar and likely heavy smoke to deal with (we are
both allergic and have much difficulty finding good smoke-free places to
be able to eat at in and around the MD-PA region, though MD is much better
than it used to be). The common entrance was a problem since the bar was
not totally shielded from smoke. Fortunately we've never had to wait long
on any visit so it hasn't been too bad, but it will get to you if you do
have to wait. Once inside the restaurant area, one usually does not smell
smoke...usually. It does waft through occasionally. Truely ruins a good
meal having to deal with that crap.
As far as the meals are concerned, we've been mostly pleased with the
quality. On occasion the quantity has not been totally satisfying though.
And some of the items have been below par for taste. For example, the
crock of chili was pretty bland and disappointing. And the Firecracker
Wrap lacked the fire and the Road Kill Chicken was dry and overcooked..
But, the other entrees we've tried including the Chicken 'N Ribs,
Silver Spring Sirloin, Mine Shaft Burger and Hot Pit Beef sandwich were
quite good. So, good dishes can be found...just takes a little
experimenting. Prices range from about $8 for sandwiches to $12-18 for
entrees. Service has always been good.
Silver Spring Mining Company is certainly worth a try. We keep going back.
Silver Spring Mining Company has two other locations in Bel Air and
Perry Hall.
