CLASH in the News

Watch this page for updates on discoveries and other newsworthy events about the CLASH program. Most recent events listed first:

CLASH OVERVIEW PAPER: Our survey overview paper is available at: Postman et al. 2012, ApJS, 199, 25. Please read this paper for the most complete details about the CLASH survey. See the “Publications” link at the top of the page for a listing of submitted and published scientific results using CLASH data.

NEW CLASH TARGET SELECTED FOR CYCLE 20: Abell 963 (z=0.206) was in the original cycle 20 CLASH sample but we have determined that there are no usable guide stars to use for the WFC3 observations and, hence, the  desired CLASH observations would not be feasible. We have replaced Abell 963 with Abell 1423 (z=0.213). Abell 1423 meets all the criteria for an x-ray selected CLASH cluster.

HIGH-LEVEL SCIENCE PRODUCTS AVAILABLE! See the MAST Treasury, Archival, Legacy, and Large Program website to access HLSP for CLASH clusters. The CLASH HLSP are, in general, released 2 months after the last observation for a given cluster is acquired. Updated versions will be released ~6 months after this initial release.

NEW! CLASH Supernovae - Click here to see details on supernovae that have been discovered in the CLASH and CANDELS MCT programs. These alerts are limited to the supernovae that can be followed up from the ground.

Schedule:

Our 25 clusters will be observed over the course of the next 3 cycles. The current plan is to observe 10 clusters in cycle 18, 10 clusters in cycle 19, and 5 clusters in cycle 20. The current CLASH observation and data release schedule is shown below. The cycle 20 schedule is not yet known.
