PDCS fan,
The files in this directory contain the galaxy catalogs from
which the PDCS was derived.
*hr_V_pdcs_pub.cat.gz = gzipped catalog with data for V band
*hr_I_pdcs_pub.cat.gz = gzipped catalog with data for I band
*.exclude = exclusion regions (xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax) where limits are
for Global X/Y positions (see below)
The file names all begin with the 2 digits of the R.A. hour of the
PDCS field. All files are ascii files (when uncompressed!).
See Postman et al. 1996, AJ, 111, 615 for details about how the catalogs were
created.
The following data are in each column of the *pdcs_pub.cat files:
Column # Parameter
1 J2000 Right Ascension (Hours)
2 J2000 Right Ascension (Minutes)
3 J2000 Right Ascension (Seconds)
4 J2000 Declination (Degrees)
5 J2000 Declination (Minutes)
6 J2000 Declination (Seconds)
7 Global X position (1 unit = 0.335 arcsec)
8 Global Y position (1 unit = 0.335 arcsec)
9 Isophotal magnitude
10 Total magnitude
11 Classification (1 = star, 2 = galaxy)
The catalogs have been filtered to exclude objects in known areas around
bright stars or where data is unreliable for other reasons. Magnitudes
HAVE been corrected for Galactic extinction with
the following corrections:
Field A(V4) A(I4)
---------------------------------
00h 0.055 0.027
02h 0.028 0.014
09h 0.004 0.002
13h 0.031 0.015
16h 0.019 0.009
---------------------------------
I band data provided down to extinction corrected limit of I=22.45
V band data provided down to extinction corrected limit of V=23.75
