Research: novae and other transients.

Activities: As a lifelong spectroscopist I offer graduate level short courses on 'The Analysis of Emission Lines' for Ph.D. programs at universities and institutes around the world.

    Together with Dr. Sandra Faber of UCSC I am assisting in the Osterbrock Leadership Program that mentors UCSC astronomy Ph.D. students who are interested in science leadership. We provide the students with unique opportunities to participate as observers in national level policy and peer review panels, in addition to arranging for discussion sessions with international leaders in astrophysics.
